Mrs. Willie Mae Taylor Coe was born January 25, 1931 in Darlington County, the daughter of the late Harry and Susana Mosley Taylor. She was educated in the public schools of Darlington County. She passed through this life’s journey on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. She was a lifetime member of Nathan Temple Fire Baptized Church, where she loved to work and serve in the church. She never wavered from her faith. In her youth she was saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost. She loved to sing and praise God. Mrs. Coe always had an encouraging word and wisdom to give you. She loved working in the church. During her time at church she served as the president of the Senior Missionary; Sunday School teacher for the adult class; the Mother Board; president of the Mass Choir; Church Secretary for 46 years; president of HYPV and local DRE; and a member of the Sr. Choir.
Mrs. Coe was employed with Hartsville Manufacturing for 30 years. She also worked as a social worker for three years. She was married to Mr. Arthur Lee Coe, Sr. on September 7, 1950. They were married for 59 years. This union was blessed with five children and two grandsons that were raised in the home.
She was preceded in death by her siblings: Albert Taylor, Joseph Taylor, Mary Taylor, Sonny Taylor, Harry Taylor, Jr., Toney Taylor, Sally Mae Edwards, and Shirley McMillan. She was a very loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all. She had a loving and giving spirit. The Coe Family was eternally blessed by the wisdom that she shared and we celebrate a life well lived.
Surviving to cherish the memory of Willie Mae Taylor Coe is her loving husband Arthur Lee Coe, Sr. of Hartsville, SC; her two daughters, Sandra (Charles) Hines of Hartsville, SC and Suzanne (Toney) Rouse of Darlington, SC; her three sons, Harold (Renay) Coe of Charlotte, NC, Arthur Coe, Jr. and Tarra (Barbra) Coe both of Hartsville, SC; one sister, Suzanne Jones of Hartsville, SC; one brother, Sylvester (Anna) Taylor of Hartsville, SC; two grandsons, Anthony L Coe and Dewand Gattison both of Hartsville, SC; one grand daughter, Kenni Gattison; a sister-in-law, Parolee Alsbrook of Hartsville, SC; a 103 year old aunt, Sylvia Weston of Columbia, SC; two god children, Sharon Wingate and Darrley Ellerby; two god grandchildren, Alicia Wingate and Wanda Cole; two adopted daughters, Diane Redding and Josephine Ridges; two adopted sisters, Mae Frances Scott and Francina Hannibal; one adopted son, Leon Jackson; her adopted family, the Rouse and Baker Family and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and very close friends.
